Introducing Judgment Coach
A thinking partner for consequential decisions, designed to strengthen human judgment, not replace it.
Judgment Coach is an early-stage AI-powered coaching product being developed to help people navigate consequential decisions with greater clarity, confidence, and judgment.
Most people don’t need AI to tell them what decision to make. They need help seeing the dynamics around the decision clearly enough to use their own judgment well.
Judgment Coach talks through a real decision with you: timing, stakes, reversibility, stakeholders, incentives, uncertainty, and gives you an independent read on what may be getting in the way. Then it helps you choose one or two next moves, learns from what happens, and over time helps you recognize your own patterns and the patterns of the organization around you.
It’s not just an AI conversation. It’s a coach that gets better at helping you make better decisions, and helps you get better at making them.
Positioning
What it is, and what it isn’t
Judgment Coach is a confidence-and-capability tool for exercising judgment in real organizational dynamics. It is not decision-management software, governance tooling, or an AI that makes the decision for you. Its job is to help you see the situation more clearly, strengthen your judgment, and act with more confidence.
Difference
Why not just use an AI prompt, skill, or workflow?
A prompt, skill, or workflow can help AI have a better conversation about a decision. Judgment Coach is designed to do something more durable: maintain a structured understanding of the decision over time, track how the dynamics change, connect what happens back to the user’s prior actions and learning, and gradually transfer more of the reasoning back to the user. It doesn’t just remember the conversation; it learns the decision, the patterns in how the user exercises judgment, and eventually the patterns in the organization around them.
Timing
Why now
AI has made it dramatically easier to generate analysis, options, recommendations, and polished answers. But consequential decisions inside organizations still depend on human judgment: recognizing when urgency is real, understanding who needs to be involved, separating disagreement from misaligned incentives, deciding how much rigor is warranted, and knowing when enough is known to move. Judgment Coach is being designed for that gap.
In practice
What it looks like in practice
A user might bring a decision that appears to be stalled because a stakeholder opposes the direction. Judgment Coach talks through what is happening and may surface that the real issue is not disagreement at all, but accountability without influence. The user chooses one or two actions to take next. When they return, the coach asks “What happened?” and reconciles the update against what it previously understood: what changed, what didn’t, what was resolved, and whether a new dynamic has emerged. The coach then updates its read and helps the user decide what to do from there.
The goal is not to make people increasingly dependent on AI. It is to help them become increasingly capable without it.
Ambition
The longer-term ambition
Over time, Judgment Coach could do more than support individual decisions. It could help users recognize patterns in how they exercise judgment, reconnect them to lessons and approaches that have worked before, and distinguish personal challenges from recurring organizational conditions, such as unclear decision rights, chronic alignment problems, or weak prioritization.
Beta
Seeking early beta testers
Judgment Coach is currently being developed and tested. I’m looking for a small group of beta testers willing to bring real, consequential decisions, use the coach over time, and give candid feedback on what makes the experience useful, or not.
